Amid the Civil Rights movement of our generation, I began to question how do I show up and actively amplify Black-owned businesses in sustainable clothing, wellness, beauty, and lifestyle spaces.
I created the GLA Goodie Bag to make sure that we're diversifying our shelves and supporting Black-owned businesses long-term.
Each month we will feature a Black-owned business that aligns with our sustainable values. My goal is to introduce you to new sustainable brands and get dollars into these Black-owned businesses.

July Brand Spotlight: Peak and Valley
I've been on a mission to bring more clean beauty, sustainable home, and wellness brands to GALERIE.LA. I discovered Peak and Valley through the wholesale platform FAIRE, which has been a new way I find sustainable brands. I immediately went to the Peak and Valley website and experienced an abundance of information on adaptogens - how they work to help us manage and reduce stress, boost brain function, lower blood pressure, and much more.
A few years ago I was introduced to adaptogens by a friend who knew how stressed I was at the time. The adaptogen I used consistently was Ashwagandha, a root that's commonly used in Ayurveda. I made an Ashwagandha elixir as my morning coffee substitute. I loved it, I still make it all the time. I noticed was less anxious and didn't have a crash in the middle of the day when I would drink it. I've recently turned to mushroom coffee as my almond latte fix. So, I was thrilled to discover Peak and Valley's unique blends and couldn't wait to bring them to GALERIE.LA! Peak and Valley is the wellness brand that I've been looking for.
Peak and Valley is a small team based in Seattle, founded by Nadine Joseph. While studying the neuroscience of stress and working in a research lab, Nadine ironically herself was experiencing chronic stress. Leading her on a mission to bring inclusive, fun, and honest products to the world of wellness, helping people to manage stress.
Peak and Valley's ingredients are always vegan, mindfully sourced, and either organic or wild-crafted. They are science-backed and made with respect for the traditions and cultures that have used Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine through the ages.
